Stephen Tomlin (1901-1937), the Bloomsbury group’s primary sculptor, immortalised the faces of Bloomsbury’s best-known characters, including Duncan Grant, Lytton Strachey and Virginia Woolf.
This second edition of Tomlin's biography, Bloomsbury Stud: The Life of Stephen 'Tommy' Tomlin, written by Michael Bloch and Susan Fox, has been published to accompany the exhibition Bloomsbury Stud: The Art of Stephen Tomlin, on view at the Philip Mould Gallery from 5th June until 11th August 2023.
Beautifully designed by the Libanus Press, bound in dark-blue cloth with John Banting’s striking, bare-chested portrait embedded in the cover, Bloomsbury Stud runs to 248 pages printed in colour on Munken Lynx, and includes almost a hundred illustrations, most of them never before published.
