Women Masters
Until 4 February
There are only a few more days to see Maestras (‘Women Masters’) at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. This exhibition brings together nearly 100 paintings, sculptures and textile works by important women artists of the likes of Mary Beale, Angelica Kauffmann, and Artemisia Gentileschi, as well as modern women such as Sonia Delaunay and Alice Bailly.
The exhibition touches on the idea of sorority by grouping together artists, gallerists, and patrons with shared values, and looks into how they approached important social and historical events of their time.
If you are not in Madrid, the exhibition can also be viewed virtually, and it is also accompanied by the video responses of 12 current professionals – among them, researchers, historians, politicians and writers – who unpack major themes from the exhibition.
When: Until 7 Febraury 2024.
Where: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid.
