Rosalba Carriera: Perfection in Pastel
Until 24th September 2023
To commemorate the 350th anniversary of the birth of Rosalba Carriera (1673-1757), the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Old Masters Picture Gallery) in Dresden, Germany, is hosting a remarkable exhibition dedicated to this Venetian pastel painter.
Carriera was one of the earliest women artists to achieve widespread acclaim in Europe, and her work in pastel, watercolour and miniature was admired by collectors across the continent. With Dresden owning the largest concentration in the world of works by Carriera, this exhibition showcases around 70 of her works, alongside typical Venetian handicraft products such as glass, lace and fine cloth.
