Power to the Peasantry

The Art of Being a Woman in Tudor England | Virtual Summit

Portrait Miniature consultant at Philip Mould & Company, Emma Rutherford, will be speaking at this year's Tudor Travel Guide virtual summit. The virtual summit is called 'Power to the Peasantry: The Art of Being a Woman in Tudor England' and will run from the 23rd to the 24th October 2021.

'Power to the Peasantry' will host a variety of guest speakers including Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb, Dr Rachel Delman, The Tudor Tailor and The Companye of Merrie Folke and of course Emma. The focus of Emma's talk will be the well-documented portrait miniaturist Levina Teerlinc (1510-1576), who was a female limner (or miniaturist) working in the court of Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I. The intimate nature of miniatures and how women used them during this period will be central to Emma's discussion, tune in next week via the link below.

The summit will take place virtually over two days, to sign up, visit The Tudor Travel Guide website below.
