Fake or Fortune?

Returns July 2021

The first episode of Fake or Fortune? returns to our screens for its ninth season on Wednesday evening at 9pm on BBC1! Philip and Fiona once again team up to investigate artworks provenance and uncover their stories. Filmed over and in-between lockdowns, Philip and Fiona travelled across the UK, visited numerous institutions and conducted remote interviews in order to solve this season’s mysteries.

The first episode (of four) sees Philip and Fiona head to Norfolk to investigate a distinctive sculpture, purported to be a Henry Moore (1898-1986). The work was discovered whilst the owners were strimming their long grass and was used as the couple’s doorstop for many years. The owners latterly decided to investigate their sculpture after an art historian remarked that it looked remarkably like a Moore. Could this be a lost work of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century? The stakes are high for the team, with the work in question having a potential value of a million pounds. Watch Philip and Fiona uncover its true provenance on Wednesday!
