Exhibition: 'Artists in Focus: George and John Cox Dillman Engleheart'

Wed Mar 2, 2016

Portrait miniature of Elizabeth Juliana Monro (or Munro) (1768-1804), by George Engleheart (1750-1829)

From the 7 - 11 March 2016, Philip Mould & Co. will be staging a small, part-selling exhibition featuring the portrait miniatures of George Engleheart (1750-1829) and his equally talented nephew, John Cox Dillman Engleheart (1784-1862). This display precedes a new book on the artists, due to be published later this year.

George Engleheart was the quintessential Georgian miniaturist, capturing the flamboyance of George IV and his circle, while also retaining an official appointment at court to his father, George III. George Engleheart’s thriving studio included his nephew, who he trained from the age of fourteen, and who went on to forge a successful career of his own.

This pop-up exhibition will showcase some of the finest works of both artists borrowed from private collections, as well as works currently for sale.

Please note the gallery is open weekdays 9:30am - 6pm, but will be closed from 2pm on Tuesday 8th March for a private event.
