Fake or Fortune? returns next week! Series 11, Episode 1

September 22, 2023

Britain's favourite art programme is returning to BBC One next Tuesday for its eleventh series.

For the first mystery of Fake or Fortune? Series Eleven, Fiona Bruce and Philip Mould head to Essex to investigate a small sculpture found at a local car boot sale. Owner Amanda Kirke's initial research led her to a similar figure titled Small Warrior by one of the 20th century's most renowned artists, Dame Elisabeth Frink.
To unravel the mystery, Fiona and Philip investigate the sculpture's materials and its resemblance to authenticated Frink pieces. With scientific analysis, laser scanning, and expert opinions, they aim to prove the sculpture's authenticity.
This investigation proves to be one of the team's most challenging endeavors to date. Not only is the sculpture's appearance at a car boot sale highly questionable, but the provenance is exceedingly thin. If Amanda's piece indeed proves to be a genuine Frink, its value could soar to £60,000. However, if it fails authentication, it would be worth a mere £10 as scrap metal.
