Philip Discovers Lost Nelson Drawing on Antiques Roadshow
13th April 2012Some of you may have seen Philip's exciting discovery on the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday, but if not, see here. The drawing in question is by Henry Edridge (1768-1821) and depicts Lord Nelson. The drawing has hung in the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook, Suffolk, since the 1820s, as a presumed homage to the national hero who served on the school's committee. It was brought to the show by a teacher of the school, along with several other items relating to Nelson. Although the values given on the other items were rather paltry (on account of the lack of solid provenance), the Nelson drawing was valued at £100,000.
